Chapter 13 Summary
- In this chapter, many of the methods used
to analyse and record data in sports biomechanics have been
introduced.
- Biomechanical researchers have proposed
models to apply the principles of mechanics to qualitative
analysis of human movement.
- Many authors have made contributions
to this area, however only a selected number were reviewed.
- The reader is introduced to qualitative
models and quantitative techniques and their appropriateness
is discussed.
- Quantitative techniques used to measure
specific biomechanical parameters include force plates,
EMG, cinematography, accelerometry and isokinetic dynamometers
to name but a few.
- Some advantages, limitations and
reporting methods are covered.
