Chapter 12 Summary
- This chapter has provided the reader with
an understanding of the forces involved when a body moves
through a fluid (air and water).
- The equations of fluid flow were identified
to give the reader an understanding of the relationship
between the variables.
- Different types of fluid flow were defined
and an appreciation of how these forces affect sport and
exercise movements have also been covered (aerodynamics
of the discus for example).
- Other mechanisms such as those that cause
lift are also covered (Bernoulli and Magnus effects).
- Application to performance is highlighted
throughout.
